I was going to say an owl too :)))

Sticki, in the night they produce horrible sounds like deep huuuuuuuu. No wonder, children were often frightened that owl would take them if they won´t be nice :)

that would be very frightening.

Lol. Their flight is very funny. I noticed yesterday one of the pair of owls floating above the river. It seems incredible that her body is too heavy to be kept in air and in spite of it it was there. With rare clumsy paddling with wings she almost looked like a wooden toy hanging onstring.

A headless owl Kat .. :o) we sometimes have them screeching in the trees round us but not so much as before they blocked up the windows of an old derelict building that they used as their home ...

...she is not headless, Amy :) I was also checking where dissappeared her long ears with "anthens" and I found on google that these are the feathered tufts on the top of owls’ heads, that are used to communicate and help the bird blend into its surroundings.
During sleep (and this photo was made on noon) they are not visible :)

Owls can make some scary sounds! The barn owls here make the worst screeching calls outside my window, it's even worse than the coyotes. Very pretty though, you're fortunate to have seen it so close :). It's odd how they make so little noise when they fly though.

I think they are very very light. I folowed this one while flying at the sunset, close to our house. It looks as if one sigle wave with wings accelerated her body upwards above present flying line, but this was was immediately opposed by wave in the opposite direction.

Oops sorry Katarina !! Should definitely have gone to SpecSavers :o)))
