Regale trumpet lilies opened last week, the fragrance is addictive, I find myself wondering over by them every chance I get.

Really beautiful ! I can almost smell them. My yard is like that with milkweed blooms right now.......they really are intoxicating !

Oh Yes! I planted some milkweed roots last year...and I'm proud to say that I can partake of that intoxication too! they are marvellous! Have any Monarchs yet, Diohio? What are the pretty purple heads near that gorgeous lily, Flcrazy?

Lori that is verbena bonariensis. No fragrance that I've noticed from these, but the blooms seem to last forever.

Well I missed on that one, aye Flcrazy?! Just saw a Nova about the First Flower.... It is about the evolution of flowering plants and in it they have a piece done on E.H. Wilson and the Szechuan province where he found these lilies... should google Mr.Wilson...Plant hunter extraodinaire..almost killed by a landslide while trying to harvest bulbs of these lilies...he had his leg broken and had to set it with his tripod for a splint...got gangrene, but didn't lose his leg...called the gamey leg..his "lily limp" hahha.

I do so love lillies. All that amazing trumpet of a flower bundled up and the flower bud...getting bigger and bigger befoe finally revealing all.

So do I Davebat59, they should be opening up in a few weeks. A year is a long time to wait, so I'm excited about the thought of getting to smell them again...lol.
