Pieris Japonica Variegata

Pieris Japonica Variegata

This little shrub has grown to big since last year that I've had to move it to a much bigger pot and find a new home for it. Plenty of new growth on it now too, as you can see. I prefer it to the one with the red leaves....but that's only my taste! :)

I had a look at one like this today, I wasn't sure whether I liked it or not, but this looks really well and healthy, might go back and chance it. Are they better in pots or not please?

Either or, but it must have ericaceous soil or if neutral feed it with rhody feed.

Have two now, but the red leafed variety, but think the frost got a hold of them they look a bit sad at the minute. Was wondering whether to put them closer to the house in pots, got some ericaceous compost for my blueberry bushes so will put them into some and hope that they recover.

Well, you will have a bit of drout problems perhaps mum. I think these like some dampness around their roots, like rhodys. If you had it in a pot, you could water it more easily.

True, will see, want to put my Blueberries in pots and if I have too many pots around the side of the house I shall get moaned at for blocking the pathway. Bought Sarah two Bluberries for her schoolkids they are so looking forward to planting them next week. She bought them rhubarb too and they got absolutely filthy planting that up. They are going to make blueberry muffins when they have got some fruits to pick. lol. they will love that.

Yes, I am a terror for moving things too! It does slow them down rather doesn't it!

It looks very happy in the pot Karen a lovely specimen, I have this one but mine is growing in the border, not quite as big as yours, I also have the red ones, which are looking very colourful at the moment!

They are stunning at this time of year. The only other one I have is pink flowered with plain green leaves.
