Quince bonsai-to-be (Chaenomales)

Quince bonsai-to-be (Chaenomales)

Just potted up these seedlings (sown in 2008!), as I'd been reading that Quince makes a good subject. It will be a thrill if they flower . . .

this is excellent Sheila, because I have just germinated some chaenomeles 'geisha girl' seedlings. I shall do the same as you with mine, once they have got a bit bigger....like in 4 years time! I'm going to do the same with a couple of the Cercis seedlings as well. I shall get a couple of really nice heavy shallow pots for them later. :)) Very excited about this....although it will take a long time to get them going!

I wouldn't have known they were four years old, Karen, but for once I'd labelled them! (and then forgotten all about them, lol). Good that you're starting young :)))

BUT, you'll never be as young again as you are today, lol . . . 49 is reasonably young!!

They will be worth waiting for Sheila , my Horse Chestnut has sticky buds on it , I usually put it in some kind of shelter over winter but this year for some reason I left it exposed in it's usual place proving they are hardier than we think !

They do seem to be perfectly hardy . . . how big are the leaves on yours??
