That's good to see. Not the wind - the youngster!

Awwww...

I wonder if mum took the opportunity to have the young fly because of the wind. It helps the babies. Our swallows always wait for a west windy day to have their young out of the nest. The babies try to fly and are caught by the wind and lifted on to the garage roof. It does not take long for them to gain their confidence from then on. Our swallows are not back yet. They are getting later and later.

The wind certainly helped this little chap and gave him a lift - I was worried he would be lifted right over the roof. He came down when Dad called with food :)

It is great to watch all their antics.

There were four young blackbirds together in the garden this morning but they were really squabbling - I wondered if they were from different parents although they all seemed about the same size.

how big are they Gee? my sister has 4 young blackbirds in her garden ~ the parents feed in her garden and then brought the babies.

They are almost full size, Sticki, just more fluffy and speckled than the parents. I'm not sure when they hatched as I didn't like to peep into the nest too much. They are very good are lurking under shrubs unnoticed :)

just like my sisters then, i have no idea if they are all trying to fit into the nest still, i have some pictures, i will put a couple on if they look ok.

They don't return to the nest but just lurk in the undergrowth, Sticki. There is one egg still left in my nest, infertile I guess.

that makes sense! my sister doesnt know where the nest is, they didnt arrive in her garden until they were beginning to learn to fly.
