Yes, Balboa Park is the jewel of San Diego. It's the largest urban, cultural park in the U.S. (it surpasses Central Park (New York) and Golden Gate Park (San Francisco) by several acres.

Thanks! These buildings were built for the Panama Exposition in 1915. They were never meant to be permanent buildings. The city has had to have a lot of work done over the years to keep these building strong and from crumbling.

Gorgeous looking for buildings that were meant to be temporary. Glad the city has taken good care of them.
By the way Central Park is gorgeous but I think very different to Balboa Park.

Yes, these building were retrofitted several years back (I believe) to meet earthquake standards.
Yes, I think Central Park is very different from Balboa Park. However, it is considered an urban cultural park.
