By the way, the builder gave us the all clear to use the path this afternoon after school, he was very excited to give it a go, off he went pushing himself from the front of the house to the back onto the path to his very own garden, aww the smile on his face... the tears in my eyes, just awesome!

The cone thingy is the spathe. This surrounds the spadix. The flowers form on the spadix and are insignificant.

Saw this here last night - never seen it before - went to NGS open gardens in Crabtree Lane, Burscough today and there it was! Weird. Incidentally, the gardens were inspiring.
