Crinodendron Hookerianum (Chilean Lantern Tree)

Crinodendron Hookerianum (Chilean Lantern Tree) (Crinodendron Hookerianum)

The flowers are like big red cherries. It can be trained as a bush or as a climber against a wall. Either way it likes its back to the wall.

I bought this as a 2nd year rooted cutting from Suntrap. It was only 6" high when I brought it home and it has shot up. I had a look at what other members are growing and they seem to have a mixture of trees and shrubs. I had thought a shrubby bush would be best but I really like it as a tree.

No Scottish I'd never be able to get up. A case of stretch and hope it is in focus and all there. I find the digital camera a great boon when I have hard to photograph plants like this because I can take a lot and discard the worst ones. Thank you Lulu33. The wall is part of our grand recycling scheme. We knocked down the church in the garden and used a lot of it to build walls around the garden to keep out neighbours weeds. The top had to be concrete because it was easiest to put in. It is a foot wide at the top and I have painted fish boxes all along the wall with sedums growing in them .
