It's in the greenhouse DD - the white single form is the only one that I bother with. D.wrightii has huge blooms - check this out............

there isnt a hope of putting on on the roof ~ not a flat space up there ~ the rest of the garden is relatively sheltered from wind ~ that is the up-side to no sun!!!!

Of course, by now you know this plant is a very widely grown weed here in San Diego (and many areas of California). For some reason this plant loves to grow wild along the roads and freeways here.

And we have to cultivate it here!!

I do feel sorry for the people who live out in far eastern San Diego County. There's an "Excessive Heat Watch", which most likely will go into an "Excessive Heat Warning" today.

Downtown San Diego has had high temps of only 72ºF/22ºC. which is surprising because the water temp in the bay is 70ºF/21ºC. Although, this is the time of year when there's a huge difference in temps from the coast to the inland areas.

if i had to live with one extreme temperature i think i would prefer cold ~ at least you can put more logs on the fire and wear more jumpers!

We typically have 3 - 5 days from spring- fall of 100ºF/38ºC or hotter. Further inland, they have many more days...and of course, in far eastern San Diego County (the desert) the average high in summer is about 110ºF/43ºC (no kidding) and can get much hotter.

I dont think we have ever had 100 here?

Not since 2005 (?) I reckon - spent the afternoon crayfishing.

The last time downtown San Diego recorded a 100ºF/38ºC. was back on November 4, 2010 (I just looked it up. lol). It doesn't happen very often in downtown.

We've hit the low 30's since then, but nothing spectacular.........

That's so funny! The really hot weather hasn't even arrived yet. July starts monsoon season, this brings the hot and humid weather of the "July Fry". It won't be until late November before the weather will cool down...and sometimes it stays pretty warm into December.

I think you should send some over here delonix, might save me having to put the heating on ~ has been known in june and definitely on again by september!!!

lol! No, not gloating! That's the saying here: "May Gray, June Gloom and July Fry". May, June we receive the morning low clouds (not every day in inland San Diego, though) then in July the flow changes from the cooler onshore to a south-eastern warm to hot flow, which is the monsoonal season, this runs from: July - Sept. We typically don't receive the rains, just some clouds, heat and humidity.

I can't imagine using the heat this time of year! I rarely use the heat in the middle of winter. I've had my fans running a lot the last week. Luckily, it's not warm, hot enough for the a/c, yet!
