Hungry Beasties in the garden!

A little plant (no idea what it is, label long gone!) was festooned with these little caterpillars yesterday morning. I don't know what they are so just cut off the little affected branches complete with munching hordes and popped them over the fence. I think the plant will be OK and hope the beasties will be too :)

Let's hope they don't find their way back!

Loads of slugs and snails here, Dorjac, they even find their way indoors sometimes. It makes me cringe :(
I hope so too, Waddy :)

Not seen many catterpillows but loads of slugs and snails, all this rain bringing the out. Hope your plant will be ok.

That's interesting, Pimpernel, because I hoped this little plant might be a flowering current that was sent to me by a fellow Goyer some time back. I only planted it out in the garden this year and it has become muddled (in my head!) because I have several other smallish shrubs in pots too. I presume the sawfly would go for the flowering variety as well as the fruiting currant?

Yes Gee I think so...You really have to check it constantly now...Worth asking that as a Question though to be sure.

Once I had removed the beasties, I sprayed the rest of the plant anyway, Pimpernel and those around it just to be on the safe side. Checked it this morning and all OK :)

I've resorted to slug pellets, Carole, hidden under slates around the garden. They even climb onto the bird table at night for any leftovers! And I fleece Millie when she comes in from the garden at night in case she's carrying any hitchhikers :)

I have found them on the bird Table too, think I will have to resort to your deterrant as well!

Honestly, Janey, I didn't put them over into a neighbour's garden! They went over the back fence into the greenery around the village pond :)
