Sun catcher, CD mosaic

I've made a CD fence screen, and I was thinking of making mobiles from them, maybe whole or cut into random fragments. but this is excellent and has gone straight into my faves. could you tell us what you used to fix the CDs in place and seal them?

I've got stacks of old data and audio CDs to recycle, I used to label them with a marker pen, so I've been trying to get the writing off, but maybe I should just spray-paint over them.

Fran, how's about trying to wipe off the pen with some white spirit........or nail varnish remover!!

Really like that, Lulu. So you have stolen all the sun now; your suncatcher appears to have absorbed every last drop. First Pimpernel (it was him, wasn't it? - for his blackcurrants ?) and now you!! Who's having it for the weekend, because by all accounts there's going to be none in these parts.

I did some, Lulu, using surgical spirit which I was told would clean off the marker pen - but I do have at least eighty discs (ha, won't use them all at once but might as well clean them at once, then it's done and dusted - besides, you can bet that however many I do, I'll need just one more for a project) and it's a long job doing them all one at a time, by hand

Can you not turn them upside over, so to speak?!

but I wanted double-sided display! lol, of course I could glue two together, clean sides outwards. durr, only just thought of that!

I've often thought how lovely slabs of opal would look in a mosaic...rather expensive though!

I've got stacks mroe CDs, it's just getting-round-to-doing-somethjing-wjith-them. Of course, it'd help if I had even a smidge of Lulu's talent!

I don't know whether it's the light, but that mosaic looks like quicksilver to me, shimmering, shining mercury. that alone i worth the price of admission!
