We bought this Rose locally last year, and sorry but I cannot for the life of me locate the label...but I will...
Such a beautiful Pink, this is the first bloom of several buds..showing..
I also tried to capture this little white spider, I thought was rather pretty, never seen a white one before...

I've found the label, it's Queen Elizabeth...woopee, I don't throw away my labels, so I knew I would locate in my box somewhere...
Hi Resi, I try and stay with known Roses if I can, unless I can find it in the French Rose book...but usually, I buy from David Austin Roses, or take cuttings, which is great fun doing your own...The other thing that puts me off of the French packaged Roses in the GC, is they have no scent...and the french love their Roses, but everytime i lean over to get a whiff of a lovely looking Rose, it's got no perfume...maybe it's us Brits that set perfume as important in our Roses...I also didn't know about the spiders camouflage, so thanks for that...
Thanks Sylvia Pixi and everyone who likes the pic...

but it is all the old french roses which have the most gorgeous scents, strange that they breed their roses now without any at all...
no roses i dont buy fr supermarkets, mine nearly all come fr Becky Hook, she and her husband are very knowledgable rose people and have a nursery which specializes in old french remontant roses, not far from us, they dont graft and grow all their roses themselves, never had a dud one from her yet, if you are interested i can give you her details, she posts all over the world and is a lovely lady to boot.

Hi everyone, and thankyou, I've just been looking at the Rose this morning, and the next one is opening slightly deeper in colour than the first, which I think is about right, the true colour deepens as the Rose progresses...
So kind Resi, and thanks yes that would be great, I like to buy from David Austin, because you know what you're getting, but with the postage on top, it can work out quite expensive...
I have a neighbour, who has a very large back Garden, and the side of it runs part length of the road, and it's full of gorgeous roses climbing all over the fence line, I took some shots yesterday that I will post, not a scent...or very little...shame that...as they look so nice...

Hi, Crissue, that albino insect looks to me more like a scorpios, which live in Mediterannean, but maybe it is spider. Looks cute with that pinky rose :)

I certainly rate scent as a priority when I buy a rose Crissue!!

Sometimes first thing in the morning, it's lovely to smell the perfumes wafting across the Garden....

.......and on lovely warm balmy evenings Crissue, - if you remember what those are!!!! :(
Can't say there have been many this year!
That's the time I love to sit out by the pond with a nice drink - smell the gorgeous smells from the garden, watch the frogs jumping out of the pond to go on their night time slug hunting & see the bats flitting around - probably catching the insects over the pond.
Lovely!! But when am I going to be able to do that this year??

Sadly, most of us are in the same boat, I think this is a Summer or not, that we won't forget, for the wrong reasons...Seems like the only time I get to watch the activity in our Pond, is when I feed the Fish, other than that it's too damp or raining...

lovely rose, sorry i cannt help you with its name but those little spiders seem to change their colour at will as camouflage.
do you find too that many plants here are only for sale to france and the east bloc countries and the descriptions are very hard to find and mostly in russian or polish!??
they also seem to sell under different names than the uk ones.
