What do you think Wylie?, not a good flower but see what I mean about the colour not sure what I'd call it, thought it'd be more purpley?, it has a slight white edge so fingers crossed for a verrry hot summer next year and we might get teeth you never know :-) last year it had a flower with a couple of teeth but nothing much.

Yes I thought muddy brown too Daglelie , hope the colour improves not what I was expecting.
Yes Dd but don't worry it won"t bite, this type has a white spiky edge to the flowers that are called teeth, very pretty but they need a bit of warmth and time to establish before they appear :-)
Wylieintheazores put a lovely picture on yesterday of one of his with teeth, Soldier of Fortune its called.

This is the way mine started out this year (so there's hope for yours). It is described as black red, so it fits. This is by Lambertson, a hybridizer in Florida (he also did Golden Tentacles and Stippled Statement, both new for me this year). That gives the clue about warmth and mild winters - evergreen in Florida. Look up my photo on Jun 16 (you made a comment) and you'll see mine with teeth. I do have one open today with a few teeth on it
