Lost the name for this one. Grows two feet tall and flops over. the flowers look identical to me but the habit is very different and the second is much more free flowering.

It definitely isn't Rozanne Shelia - I do have that one as well, but thanks for the suggestion! Rozanne is darker and spreads without growing straight up first - at least not as much as this one does! You can't see that from the pic though. The third pic in my photos shows a distant shot of it growing - it has flopped over from the clump of new leaves you can just see behind the flowers.
Agree Gg, I love all the blue ones.

I think this is the one you sent me last year Steragram....It's doing well in my garden. I posted a pic a few weeks back. Flowering over many weeks now - I'm very pleased with it. It is sprawling through and over the peonies which is nice at it gives a bit of colour to the otherwise green foliage.

I couldn't find our messages about this one Scottish, and i can't remember what I sent you - I know you sent me a white campanula, which I have enjoyed this summer.
If this is the one i sent you it certainly is greedy for space but it does have a longer flowering season than most of the others. Still don't know what its called though!

Yes, Steragram...it has flowered for ages - very very pleased with it :)
I'm glad the campanula is doing ok for you. Did the yellow daylily survive?

I have got a bit mixed up about who sent me what this year, being rather disorganised, but yes I did have a yellow day lily and it had one flower spike - I guess there will be more next year, so thank you again for that. I'm so glad you are pleased with the geranium - it is certainly enthusiastic isn't it?

Pleasantly enthusiastic Steragram. I'm glad you had at least 1 flower on the daylily - mine's is very poor this year. I think I didn't divide it up enough last year, so will need to have another go at it!!

How often do they need dividing? I have one that's been in for at least three years and it is getting rather a big clump now.

From what I've picked up on here that the larger the clump gets the less flowers they produce and should be rejuvenated by division.
I would say that mines too have been 4 years without dividing - until last year. I did leave it as a rather large clump and possibly didn't divide it as much as I ought to have done. All my others are only in their 2nd year and have not bulked up as much yet!

Thank you - probably time I did it then!

Could it be Orion?:-)

It certainly looks rather like it - there are so many very similar ones I don't know how anybody can tell the difference between some of them once they lose the label!
I went a bit mad last year and finished up with rather more blue ones than I need and have lost the names for most of them. Rozanne has been amazing and gone completely crazy - really good value!

My Rozanne and Ann Folkard have taken over a border almost, must be all the rain. I always think I'll remember the name of a plant ....misplaced confidence lol:-)

that sounds familiar...

Hiya Steragram, I've just found this post so apologies if you already know the name of this geranium! It looks very much like the one I have, called 'Brookside'.
27 Aug, 2013
Thank you Helenium, kind of you to reply. The colour is right for Brookside but I think it is much too tall before it flops over. Someone else was pretty sure it is Johnson's blue - I may just stick with calling it that big blue one, which is a shame after all the helpful suggestions!
28 Aug, 2013
Your welcome! The brookside I have gets to about 2ft then, it starts to sprawls. Hope you find the name eventually!
28 Aug, 2013
Does it wander about or just flop over?
30 Aug, 2013
It wanders through other plants, but, it stands up on its own too - or does in this garden, I'll take a photo of it and see what you think.
30 Aug, 2013
I've put a pic of G. Brookside in my photos.
31 Aug, 2013
That's kind of you - but I don't think its that - it's not quite such an intense blue, and it doesn't wander at all, just flops en masse and stays put. It is a very robust plant and makes a large solid clump quite quickly. It finished flowering about a month ago and doesn't normally have any flowers this late in the year even when cut back after flowering.

Okay dokey, hope you find the name soon.

Thanks anyway Helenium. I think I'll just call it Geranium pseudothug. (I have a much more thuggy one actually...)
1 Sep, 2013
I had one of those too. Although it had a lovely white flower and looked nice to begin with, it soon turned into a thug - sprawling about 3ft in every direction, it just looked a mess. I thought the best place for it was the recycle, but my friend said she had a place for it, so it was cut down, was dug up, and sent over 200 miles away to my friends' garden. It must be behaving itself as its never been mentioned again!

Lol!- Keeping mine as it looks good even flopped over and I have room for it. It does tend to seed around a bit but not to worry.

Might be G. Rozanne??? Quite a deep blue, and spreads to about a metre.
