grown well in a year.

I can nearly smell it from here - brings back lovely memories of warm evenings in Greece with Jasmine perfume in the air.
Honeysuckle is another reminder of warm balmy evenings!

It looks great! It makes a good hedge. I've seen many used as hedges here in San Diego.

I love this one, it's next to my balcony doors and I get to smell it all the time!

Yes, I do love the smell; it reminds me of Hawai'i.
I should buy a few for the front yard...as I love the fragrant flowers. It's very common and really cheap at the big box stores here in San Diego, CA.

I am trying to grow a gardenia in a pot. It looks good at the moment, lovely glossy leaves & 2 fat buds, but I only got it this year, so I hope I can keep it growing! I did try one a couple of years ago, but didn't have much success - I still have it but it just doesn't seem to grow much at all!!!!! It doesn't look dead, but it doen't look very lively either!!

That's great! So you'll have Gardenia and Arabian Jasmine by your seating area...it'll be overwhelmingly fragrant there. :>)

Gardenia plants only do well in pots with very acidic soil. If the soil is too alkaline the leaves turn yellow and fall off. Gardenia loves a lot of heat!

There is a honeysuckle plant near there as well!!!
I've been beating my head all summer trying to think of who I know that could give me used coffee grounds to add to the soil. Sometimes our minds just don't work. I was talking to a friend of mine telling her how good coffee grounds are......and then I looked at her t-shirt (she had come to see me right after she finished work).......BANG, right in my face. My god-daughters father owns a beach bar and my son works there as well.....how much thinking did that take?????
Anyway.....I'm a happy chappy now....I get a bag of used coffee grinds every evening (except when my son forgets it).

Yes, coffee grounds are perfect for any acid-loving plant, shrub or tree.
