Hazel nut.....first one ever!

I didn't even 'twig' that a twisted hazel might produce hazel nuts! Thankfully the nut is not contorted!

I think this is it's third year now Fran...possibly fourth. Sadly, I keep accidentally breaking off bits...it's very brittle. Still, it's surviving my acts of involuntary vandalism quite well!

well, it's still only a kid, and kids bruise easly and get over it easily. It'll grow hardier over time and blossom more.

The blossom is absolutely miniscule! Have you ever seen? it's like a witch hazel flower but only about 1/10 of the size, and bright crimson.
