A happy accident Cinderella--they were quite far apart when I put them in!

Thanks everyone. I'm a little worried about the clematis Fascination this autumn as it died down very early and I think I might have lost it. only time will tell!

I have the same combination in my Ct. garden. Think it is one of the best. My clematis looks very scraggly too, so I am hoping nothing has happened to it. It does not get enough sun. Too much growth on plants near it. Plus an ornamental pine that has grown for 20 years!

Hello Wells, my clem Fascination has survived and I have realised that it is one which grows afresh from the base each year. It does look a mess in the winter but I don't cut the dead growth off until the new begins to show in Spring. Whether that is right or wrong I don't know but it seems to work for me! Good luck with yours! PS Mine doesn't get much sun either but pokes its heads out from between other plants.

thanks for the tip. Good idea..I love Clematis but many do not like the cold weather we have (sometimes) in Vermont.
This year: extremely mild. The bluebirds are out and the woodpeckers. I do love the clematis "poking out".

And I love the idea of bluebirds and woodpeckers!
