Well, it's time again for these sunflowers, we never actually came to a definite conclusion on what they were, but whatever they are, they do make a good show!

Yes nearly the same Hb, there are so many of these asteri type perennial sunflowers, it's not quite like yours though, a real thug, this one, sure it's Helianthus tuberosa.

Karen, this would be great in a wild garden with the space for it, I can send you a root anytime, and guarantee it will grow anytime of year..lol!
It does make a network of clubby roots choking anything in it's path Kathy, so another tough job come Autumn....

Hi Janey, I remember our conversations last year as to what it's name is. I love it. So useful.

mine still not in bloom can you tell me what happened?

It is Dawn, especially in a large garden like yours, I have to spend ages spring and autumn thinning it out as it would just take over the whole garden!
Not really Bik, this plant seems to be such a tough cookie, I'm wondering if you have very fertile soil, mine is quite dry and dusty, like lots of plants, it probably flowers best on poor soil.

I was told today by a local gardener, it's a Helianthus but definitely not Jerusalem Artichoke, they have that and it reaches sky high! The mystery deepens!

Hi Janey, mine behaves quite well, guess my heavy clay contains it a little.

What else?
See who else is growing Helianthus tuberosus (Aguaturma).
See who else has plants in genus Helianthus.

Really lovely..some sort of perennial Helianthus I guess. I grew some from seed this year but they have disappeared amongst the wildflowers.
