This pretty butterfly was in my kitchen instead of out making more butterflies. After a while I caught it carefully by hand and put it in the centre of a small tree. I feel complemented that this insect chose my small garden with its mature trees to pay a visit....even if it landed in the kitchen.

Ah a Speckled Wood - not seen one of these in my garden since May . . . come to think of it, I've not seen many Butterflies at all this Summer (what Summer?!).
Lovely photo Dorjac. If I can't see my own, at least I can see yours! :-))

What a great picture.......butterflies few and far between up here this year.
You certainly are priviledged that it chose your garden :)

I havn't seen this butterfly close to before. I like the 'eyes' on its wings. Last night late on a very large woolly bodied moth was fluttering indoors. OH sleeps downstairs...so we had to start a moth hunt, and it was turfed out into the garden. Didn't have a chance to look at it closely. They must like us a lot!

lol I have paper lampshades, and it's amazing how much noise a tiny moth can make fluttering around inside. I usually turn the light out and put put a torch near the window, hopeing it'll follow the light and get out of the window.

Lovely picture. I always find it difficult to take close ups of butterflies as they usually fly off just before I click the button on the camera. Occassionally I have some luck. LOL. Butterflies seem to be about a bit more at the moment, but haven't seen many this Summer Dorjac.

There was a lot of activity here in the short spell of hot weather. When I went to Hyde Hall RHS garden there were a lot of butterflies on the Cone flowers. Such a shame when the weather affects them so badly.

I looked up Hyde Hall on the internet and it looks a lovely place to visit but not near here as it's in Essex.

I think if you had a guided tour with a group it would be interesting. It is a lot smaller than Kew or Wisley. There were 2 big double deckers there when we last went...as its only 25 miles from home and they split up and were guided by staff. Thank goodness we missed them off loading. We are very glad this is near us, as it's a convenient visit for us, as OH is very limited in what he can do these days, so we can't go far in comfort.

lovely pic. I don't get butterflies indoors (lots of moths at night!); I've had bees or wasps in, and I spend some time in chivvying thm out, trying to get them to find the open window - amazing how they can fly in through a tiny gap an open window but they can't find the space when the window's wide open!
