My hanging bags are looking good this year , I find Marigolds grow really well in them

I also grew Lobelia one year and the bottom plants failed but it wasnt due to lack of water they seemed to rot away with getting too much as the water drained down , I water from above , I do have water retaining gel / slow release fertiliser in the bags which I buy from Poundland , I think its great stuff .you get 6 sachets in the box I use 1 sachet per bag and mix it through the compost as I put it in . If you bag dries out completely you can stand it in a bucket of water for about 5 mins but dont go away and forget about it you will come back to drowned plants ! lol . Hope this helps you Buzzbee

P.S . I ALWAYS pour the sachet of gel into an old milk carton or similar and add water to it BEFORE I mix it in with the compost , that way its all swollen and you know its not gonni swell up in your bag and burst it
