Will it, or won't it? (Pasiflora alata)

My Passiflora alata is getting close, but will the cold weather cause it to drop before it blooms?

12 Sep, 2012

Pricking out Canarina canariensis (google it) to pass the time, so hadn't noticed.

12 Sep, 2012

oh lovely, canary island bell flower? have you been to the canaries?

12 Sep, 2012

A few times!

12 Sep, 2012

never been

do you choose your holiday destinations according to which plants they grow ~ or how hot it will be?

12 Sep, 2012

We have to compromise on how hot - if it was up to me it'd be the far east!

12 Sep, 2012

i think im an arm chair traveller! if it was up to me i would be exploring each and every one of those scottish islands on the west coast!

12 Sep, 2012

Too damned cool for me!!

Need to get away soon, but having to be careful with money a bit since the move. New boiler has just cost an arm and a leg!

13 Sep, 2012

Nowt yet Karen.................

Meanie:

That's amazing! Does P.quadrangularis grow there? I thought it was the most tropical of the Passiflora species.

14 Sep, 2012

Stickitoffee:

That's unbelievable! Snow, already? I don't know where Fort William is located...but it seems awful COLD!

The forecasted high here tomorrow is for 100ºF/38ºC. Yuck!!!

14 Sep, 2012

P.quadrangularis grow s here under heated glass - I've posted a few shots of the one at Oxfords botanic gardens.

14 Sep, 2012

Yes, I do remember those pics. So, it only grow under glass. I kind of figured. I know it grows here...however, it only grows well in Southern California...Northern California is too cold for it in winter.

14 Sep, 2012

I have found some seed for P.quadrangularis in a sale - may order them just for the hell of it!

14 Sep, 2012

Go for it : )

14 Sep, 2012

Do I need a Passionflower growing the front room though Stevie???

14 Sep, 2012

Well why not, could bring alot of pleasure : )

14 Sep, 2012

Not too sure that TV's and hifi's would appreciate the high humidity and heavy misting required to keep it happy!

14 Sep, 2012

Delonix ~ Fort William is north west Scotland, very near to Glen Coe and over looked by Scotland's highest mountain Ben Nevis!

http://www.visit-fortwilliam.co.uk/

never mind meanie ~ you could watch the passionflowers instead of the tv!! [it does repeats and series too, i believe, but they are better than tv repeats]

14 Sep, 2012

Stickitoffee:

Fort William looks like a beautiful, lush green place. It looks very cold, though. I can't even imagine such cold when it's 11:00 a.m. and already 98ºF (37ºC).

14 Sep, 2012

and they probably cant imagine 98º !!! i expect its one of the coldest places in the UK?
but it is an evocative and stunning location!

14 Sep, 2012

Rarely watch TV anyway Sticki..............

15 Sep, 2012

I had a feeling that would be the case! I wouldn't miss the tv but I would miss my computer!
