Thanks Carole. Perhaps you should give yours some protection this winter.

Thank you Sheila.

This one has done really well Sandra, and survived the winter ok. Some others are struggling a bit though I must say.

I can't remember what variety mine is,but it will be a nice surprise when it flowers...maybe Shirley will remember..although she sent me two,but one died..

Shirley kindly sent me one too...it's still alive. I wish I could say it's thriving like yours but...nope, just hanging on in there! Mind you, having said that, if you were sent in the post from the south coast of England to the East Coast of Scotland, you might not be all that chuffed either! lol

I agree Karen. She sent me another one last year that looks dead, but I'm keeping fingers crossed, it might shoot from the base.

Lol,Karen and Cinders..we will have to see how they perform, won't we? ..progress report next year sometime? :o)

Sorry to be late to this photo, Cinders, so pleased to see it's thriving in your garden ... now it's really strange with regards to the other variety I sent to some members as I think it was sown from a pack of seed named 'Million Bells' ... today I spotted a mauve Penstemon next to a 'Garnet' in my garden and can't for the life of me remember planting it! I can only think it must be one of the Million Bells variety planted last year ... if only I had a more reliable memory! I shall post a pic in a moment ... see what you think it might be! .......

Thats ok Shirley, I thought you were probably still hugging that lovely baby ! This Garnet has been beautiful this year, and last year too, but the other ones are not doing much at all. Hoping if it survives the winter it will do better next year. Will take a look at your picture when you put it on.

Ha ha, Cinders ... not seen the baby for a couple of days as Midwives and Support Workers have been visiting at all times of the day! All part of the NHS post-natal care. I bought a white Penstemon today and, with a bit of luck, shall be able to take cuttings from it at the weekend. I also realised today that a P. 'Heavenly Blue' I planted last year has vanished ... :o(

Its nice to know that they are taking good care of Ellora and her mum, and you will be able to see lots of her soon. The white penstemon sounds nice, is it one with small flowers or large. My white one is a bushy one with small flowers.

It's called 'Snowstorm' and the flowers are white with pink-tinged edges when first in bloom ... used to be called 'White Bedder' I believe ... quite large flowers.

That sounds pretty.

Hi Shirley. I'm wondering if 'Million Bells' was a 'common name' given to Penstemon and the packet of seed may have contained a mix? I will let you know if mine ever flowers, what colour it is.

Karen - I have just posted a comment on another pic of Penstemons - apparently Beardtongue is a common name for them - can't say I've ever heard anyone call them that though! ... I hope yours does flower eventually - otherwise folk will think I'm sending out dud plants ... lol! I have just looked at images of P. 'Miniature Bells' on the T&M seed section - now the old grey matter seems to be remembering that name .......
