Another pot planted up by the back door.
Cupressus Goldcrest, Skimmia, Gaultheria procumbens and a variegated ivy. I've underplanted with Muscari bulbs.

Great...I love Skimmia and the Cypress is so bright and cheerful. Mine were this size when I bought them, and now about 4' tall, having been moved around like ornaments, poor things. In the pots, out of the pots, in bigger pots, back in the border, and now back in large pots again!

Amazingly, they don't mind one bit, and they cope so well with drought too!

Looking lovely, Scottish ... I planted the variegated Hebes from my big blue pots into the ground in the Spring ... now that the Summer Hostas have finished I need to plant up again for Winter! ... Hmm ... your photo has given me ideas ... :o))

Shirely - looking forward to seeing your ideas come to life. I have big blue pots too - most of them have acers in!

I've managed to keep my Goldcrest small by trimming it regularly. You have lots of colour and texture in there. I do like what you have done.

Thanks Sheila and for the tip too! I bought a couple of those multi winter shrub trays from B&Q for around £5 each. I hope to use the Skimmias in the garden when they get a wee bit bigger.

My Skimmias seem to be very unhappy with the wind and rain we have had these past two years but they do root easily from cuttings.
