Crab Apple Jelly?

I've not had crab apple jelly for a very long time!

lovely plant and colour, the jelly is delicious!

Love the jelly, used to make tons, way back when!!

Is it sweet ??

semi sweet junna, it goes well with meat! you put lots of sugar in to make it but we wouldnt use it like jam.

That's very good Pippa but i'm not favored of super sweet , Oh maybe that's a unique dish, love to taste it someday:-0

Im not sure really, maybe you could use it as a jam? I think the crab apples are very hard to cut so its not an easy thing to make

We used it as a jam but it always needed more sugar, it is best served with cold cuts and savouries isnt it? I never cut the apples either just boiled them with all the sugars and spices then strained the whole lot overnight through a muslin.

i thought served with savouries ~ yes GM ~ maybe roast lamb but cold meats ~ bit like how we use chutney then?

Yes Sticki, thats how I would like it too. I adore chutney with cheeses, especially apple & raison flavour. Chutney that is not the cheese!!

you can get cheeses with things like that in them!

there was one with oranges on top which i liked and another, soft cheese with walnuts on!
