Geranium Madarense..... (Geranium maderense (Cranesbill))

There was a bit about over wintering on GW tonight DD Monty reduced them back by half and puts below the bench in the green house - cutting back on water, light and heat - I only watched because you told us about Junglejen.

I managed to grow this from seed a few years ago and get it through the winter. It then flowered superbly. The next winter,it just rotted away. There is another one, almost as good called Geranium palmatum that is a lot tougher.I have some very small seedlings that I'm hoping will survive till spring.

Motty I know they are difficult to keep through the winter...determined
to keep this one going.....
Amy it can grow enormous up to 4ft it is from Maderia that is why it is not hardy, yours could have been Palmatum, this one flowers then dies, unfortunately ours did not have time to flower this year, another one inside lol
Pcw Palmatum is another good variety, but not quite so dramatic as Madrense, it will have to come in to the garden room with the rest of the exotics........even more in this year, will there be any room for us I wonder?

Mine must be the hardy one Angela it survives the winters fine .. I moved mine last year and must have left a portion behind because there's a healthy looking plant where I moved it from , A freebie !

I've been searching my files and think mine is a .. ' Canariensis ' it's a large bushy type !

Amy-I think G.canariense is the smaller version of G. palmatum, about 18 inches tall. Both should be ok in sheltered spot
