Of course, I could resist posting one of my favorite flowering trees here in San Diego, CA. This tree popped up in summer of 2006 from a seed, from a tree around the corner. This tree is most likely more than 30ft (10m). Photo taken Nov. 8, 2012 in Balbo Park.

Thanks! The tree in my yard is blooming very well, also.

Yes, and it's too bad the photos of this tree doesn't come close to doing it justice. The flowers are so spectacular and bright! :>)

I wonder how a photo of the Tulip Tree would look ... from up in the museum building, looking down ..

I don't think you can take photos from the windows. The windows are very high up in the museum.
I do have many close ups of the African Tulip tree flowers off my tree and some of the trees around San Diego.

I guess on shorter, younger trees the flowers are easier to see ... not so high up !

Yes, that's true. The large (55ft - 17m) trees here are difficult to get a good clear photo, also. Although, most people keep their African Tulip trees at around 30ft (10m).
In the tropics this tree can grow to 80ft (25m) or taller. Those are very difficult to photograph.

Yes, it does. There's a much larger tree around the corner up against this building. There used to be two large trees at the back entrance of this building, then one blew down in 2005, during a big storm.
