As promised I took photos from the hydrangeas and other flowers on the roads, parks, houses etc. Wrote a blog with other pictures and flowers.

Wonderful colour. Hydrangeas give such a great display.

Hi Dwyllis, thanks for your comment. I really enjoy the way it goes through the different shades of blue from deep to light.

It looks terrific! I never see them looking so good here in San Diego. It's too warm and dry here. I'm guessing that why you have to go to the hill, also?

HI Delonix,
The hydrangeas have a particular behavior here... I can say it likes the sun but not all day... mostly grows in the faces of slopes, both sides of the roads, where they catch light and shadows.
The ones in these pictures grow in front of the church covered by the shadows of the other plants and the church most of the day. A possible explanation for the deep blue. The humidity is not different from the roads.
I'd dare to suggest that the balance between light and shadows might be the trick to make them grow.
Of course our region is the most humid of the country as well.

Here the Hydrangeas grow best along the coast, where it cooler. They do like to be in semi-shade.
