Hi Gattinaand thank you :-)) - the very small one is Goldcrest - I am not 100% sure of the taller yellow one , but it looks like it is, grows fast and the brown one that turns green grows fast too elegans that one

They are so bright - I love them. I've taken to dotting them round the rockery and borders to give a splash of colour in the darker days of the year. When they get too big for the site, I can always replant them up the drive and replace with new, smaller ones. Those and choysia "Sundance" are looking brilliant at the moment. I'm just waiting to be able to get glowing orange and purple foliage to offset the yellow with my pathetically tiny Cotinus - it's going to take a few years yet, I think, though. Is Elegans a kind of juniper?

Hi gattina - conifers I need to get a bit of info on - I love them but don't know a lot, be careful about moving the goldcrests though from experience the only ones that are not keen on being moved - they can brown and die and really root strongly. I too like choisya really special plants I have them around the bottom of tree trunk in back

Nice winter colour,Paul..I had the Goldcrest in a pot, which was fine for a while, but then just spurted all at once..so it got too big,and didn't take to being moved..shame,as they are a lovely colour..

I have to admit we are, on the whole, extremely fortunate here, and I certainly don't mean to gloat or belittle your problems. We are due to get your rotten weather leftovers tomorrow, but without the high winds - we got those a couple of weeks back, and even then they weren't too bad. We noticed this morning, a line-up of council lorries and earth-shifters lined up in the depot, so someone's expecting rockfalls and landslides, and they are currently planting snowpoles all along the sides of the roads. We have a forecast of possible snow on Friday. Oh Bum!

I took the picture about 3 weeks ago Karen ;)) although today wasn't too bad been terrible - the soil is drenched - and wave bye to the bulbs now - drowned no doubt
Thanks Junna
Been washing garden down with the rain stored in the waterbutts - yes Gattina an easterly to come - rather cold than wet and mild myself :))
