This is an all-year-around interest tree. In Winter, the sun lights up the red stems.

This is a beautiful tree. I have one as well but it does not like where it is located. I have it for about 6 years and it has not grown a bit. Just surviving. They are few mature ones in the neighbourhood and they are spectacular when in bloom. Yours looks great Karen.

I had one just like that Klahanie...took it out this summer. No reason for it not to grow but it hadn't moved for three years at least. I still have two good ones though! Thank you!
Thanks Paul, it's a fabulous plant. Only one downside to it really...it needs a bit of space around it.

I pulled a couple out, they just sat there and did nothing.
Could it be, too much shade. I will try again now that I have seen yours, it's so nice, beautiful.

I've been ever so busy again Paul...one of the raised veg borders is out, and some shade lovers planted in front of the shed. Only one to come out now and a huge pile of clay to be bagged up and taken to the dump, then I can start digging out a bit for the bog garden! It never ends does it? lol ;)

Exactly the same work I was doing and it was an awful messy long job - but done now - good luck with all your work Karen :))

I did about 3 hours yesterday Paul and was all set to get on with it today, but now it is pouring with rain/sleet, so I have the perfect excuse to stay indoors! :) Probably just as well, I could do with a break from it!

Just bought this one, waiting for the weather to improve before we plant it out.....how old is this one k?
21 Jan, 2013
About for years in the ground A. It was about 60-80 cm when I planted it. Didn't do much for first two years, then flung up a leader about 2' of growth upwards two years ago, then not much again this year. They are quite slow.
22 Jan, 2013
So I have to be patient then....time is not on my side lol

Sorry, but yes, I know, it is the challenge all of us gardeners have to bear sometimes!
