I went to find the brace of partridge which I'd hung in a barn. I was going to tie it to the fence to lure the buzzard. But Sluggy has nicked them and hidden them some place!!

Do you not have magpies in Ontario? They are large, noisy, pretty and naughty, stealing eggs and beating up the little birds who want to get to the feeders!

one has just visited my garden but there is a squirrel now occupying the peanut dish!!!

Wow Lulu! they do sound a lot like the sparrows & starlings here! I have never seen one if we do have them here.
I was looking online to try to find ways to discourage them & they aren't too well liked here or in the USA it sounds like. There were so many sites that say they are not protected so they can be trapped & (gulp) killed!!
The thing is they kill the native birds here & that doesn't go over too easy I guess.
It's not the poor birds' faults :(
