Up where she belongs - at last!

I bought this tapestry back around 1990 - had almost got it done when my vision went. My friend finished off the last two inches of border for me. Finally got it framed lst week and hung today - it's been rolled and folded in a bag for at least ten years so it took a bit of stretching!
Don't think I'll ever do another, but can rest on my laurels with this

Hi Fran.
Well done on your tapestry, and kind of your friend to complete the final part. It looks lovely :o) x

thanks both. If it had been any colour other than dark blue, I might have been able to do it myself - but the canvas was printed the same colour, and trying to fit dark blue on to dark blue was no fun at all - I'd manage a very few sticthes, but even those did my eyes and my head in.
Credit to Anne for finishing it for me - and huge credit to Age UK - their local handyman said he'd fame it for me, that being something he'd done before (I'd asked at a couple of local framers, they'd given me prices around £200).
But it was too crumpled from being in the bag for so long, so he took it to a framing shop (oneof the ones I'd gone to, as it turned out) and they quoted him £200 too, until he said he worked for Age UK, when the price magically dropped to £40! Otherwise framing the thing would cost about four times as much as buying it and the yarn (can't remember how much it did cost, but doubt I'd have spent more than £50 on it)
smiles, this is the right time of year to count one's blessings and realise how many friends one has!

She's lovely Fran. Merry Christmas!!

That was kind and clever of the handyman to get the good deal on the framing :o)))
Yes, good friends are treasures, especially at this time of year :o))

Hi Fran, definitely you have had talent. That woman - was she so cold, or how could be explained those ice peaks in the right upper corner? Is it white Unicorn there among horses? It is a good idea you finally decided to hang it on the wall.
I am sorry to hear frames are so expensive in the UK. Of course it depends what is the size of the picture, but frame for about middle sized picture costs around 25 euros here.

thanks Kat. It's not the frames that cost, it's getting them properly fitted: the bloke in the shop said tapestries have to be stretched and treated and so on - one doesn't get one every day, so they have to make a good profit on each.
I think the top-right is just an abstract design to fill the space! I think that's teh "cristal" part of the title, "Cristal Horses")
And I do'nt think there's a unicorn (damn, I could have made one while i was at it!)
The picture and frame as they are now measure 30" x 25" - that's (err!) 76x64 cm

I see. I didn´t notice the title before. Now it makes sense. But, I still think you have Unicorn there :) The white horse has something on his forehead, black and white strips, which other horses do not have and it continue into the lips like a horn. So far my imagination.

It might be the beam coming down from top left intersecting with the horse's forehead? got the pic up on pc and enlarged it, but zooming in that much makes it all a bit fuzzy
