We got snow too!

quite a lot here in west yorkshire but its thawing now thank goodness.

I've been reading the newspaper weather reports for the UK (we don't have TV at the moment) and it sounds as if you are expecting the third ice age any minute now, but I've looked at the computer sites too, and there it looks quite reasonable - you temperatures are higher and your snowfall lighter than here, so your roads shouldn't be very icy. Are you and your councils well supplied with salt this year?

who knows gattina ~ you can never be entirely certain that the council know either!

might depend on which newspaper you are reading ~ at least one of them delights in telling news with the worst possible outcome!

Is it nice and romantic with just candlelight and the glow from the fire or is it just a ............ nuisance?
I hope that all is now back to normal and that power has been restored.

Yes, bless you, Homebird, we have power again, but who knows for how long? It kept coming and going (mostly going) all night. Truthfully, it isn't very romantic - it's a darned, freezing nuisance! I think the weight of snow probably brought some power lines down somewhere, and when it starts snowing again, it'll happen again!
We are hoping to book a couple of nights for a short break in Rome in a couple of months' time, and I just checked on their weather - they've got a balmy 12° at the moment! It isn't fair!

Snow here also, Gattina and I'm hoping its not as bad as 2010 !

Oh dear,you have got a lot..although it looks very pretty on screen :o) Not good when it affects your power,Gattina..especially when it affects your heating..I hope it doesn't go off again for you..
We only had a heavy snowfall for a short time,but it was gone in about an hour..around lunchtime..so I don't think it affected anyone much..it wasn't freezing,so the roads and paths were ok..I've just looked at our local 10 day forecast..not too bad this week ,till next Sunday..so we might get a lot more then.. but it could change yet..for the better,hopefully ..stay safe and warm..xx

Ooer Gattina......hope you have your power back, do you have a generator you can use? We've had heavy snow here, not quite on your scale though, I hope things have been sorted for you now.

Very few people round here have generators, Janey. The snow is very pretty, and we know for certain we're going to have it deep and crisp and even for at least one month of the year - more likely two and sometimes three. By then, though, it's a darned nuisance.
Those polar bear cubs were so winky - especially when they were snoring. Isn't it a shame they have to grow up? It's just as well if they do, though, I suppose.
It's 11.30 now, and it started snowing again a couple of hours ago, and is settling thickly, so it's quite possible we shall lose our power again at some stage during the night. I have to remember to keep my mobile 'phone and computer batteries charged up whenever I have the opportunity.
