It would have been bought in anyway, but I was caught out by a particularly hard frost. A cold spell is the trick to blooming it though.

Lovely flowers! :-)) You were lucky not to lose the bulb. Do these grow with their shoulders out of the soil like Amaryllis? I've never seen or grown this type.

Not sure that I was lucky, but I doubt that it could have spent the winter outdoors and survived.
The shoulders are out of the soil.
As far as multiplying goes it seems rather reluctant. It's close relative Hymenocallis is a prolific multiplier however!
