What a lovely picture! I could do with this when I play Santa at Christmas.I always tell the children how the reindeer love to eat lichens and proceed to describe what lichens are!

Idon't know much about lichens but it looks like Oakmoss - Evernia.
This is what it sais on one site I found - "Oakmoss grows primarily on the trunk and branches of oak trees, but is also commonly found on the bark of other deciduous trees and conifers such as fir and pine"
I like Larch cones. I used to collect them for Christmas decorations many years ago :o)
I hope the wind has died down now for you Neena ....

Its very interesting Neelan, I haven't seen it here, we mostly get the small hard grey or yellow sort, that looks quite soft
My goodness! What an eyeopener into the world of lichens........I just had no idea that there are so many!

Hi Neena - I'd use this in Christmas Decorations too. The lichen is lovely - Not sure/it's difficult to say if this is the type of reindeer moss I've used in floristry.
