Thanks Daglelie. The new bloom and the fading bloom look great together, don't they?

Glad to help Marguerite. The one with those little white dots is definitely 'Sunee'.

Yes, the sap is not very nice and can cause skin irritations when pruning. You definitely don't want to brush your mouth with your hand when pruning either.

Thanks Scotkat. They do add some wonderful colour to the garden.

That's a beautiful variety! I love the flowers.

I've never seen this variety for sale here before.

I have Allamanda 'Cherries Jubilee' which I love. It's blooming profusely right now in my back yard.

Here's a pic:

Ooh, that 'Cherries Jubilee' is lovely. There was a purple Allamanda growing here when I first moved in, but it has since died and I've never replaced it. Your photo has reminded me just how lovely the purple varieties are, so I think I'll have to try and get another one.

The dwarf 'Sunee' is used in the town council plantings all around our city because it's such a carefree hardy plant and doesn't get out of control like the other yellow Allamanda.

Yes, I really love my Allamanda 'Cherries Jubilee!'
It's more of a reddish colored flower, though. The purple Allamanda species is violacea or blanchetii. They're available for sale here, also. The Allamanda neriifolia is most likely the most commonly grown species. I think because it's a shrub and stays smaller than the vine A. cathartica, which can grow very wild in some gardens.

I just found out on the internet that 'Sunee' is a variety of A. cathartica. I though it may have been a variety of A. neriifolia. I don't see 'Sunee' available here in California. :>(
