Sorry I couldn't tell you Slad it grew in the cottage garden next door to us before we moved here years ago ,my neighbour knew how much I love the scent and after we moved he brought me a cutting over from it ,he didn't know what it was either ... the scent fills the garden when it's right in bloom ,I often go out late at night just to smell it :o) does that sound like L. belgica ?

The scent of a summer's evening! You are so lucky to have one in flower so soon.

Looks and sounds like Belgica Amy, I have two of them they are so gorgeous, :-)

Thanks Chris we are lucky to have it ,I'll make a note of that name Slad and rename it , have you tried taking cuttings from yours ?

Funny you should say that as last year I did 10 and all are doing well, quite easy this one Amy.

Thats good Slad , I did take some cuttings but the thing is I took some from other honeysuckle plants last autumn, a couple survived the winter which I have planted out this spring and I don't know which is which ,I'll have to wait for them to grow I will know if I have one of these by the scent :o)

It looks the same as one I have on my side fence Amy and like you I do not have the name. It was one of the only plants in the garden when I moved in and has the most fabulous evening Scent. I will look at Belgica next time I visit a Gc :o)

That's was a bonus for you Annelle the scent is fabulous , I will look as well next time i'm in a garden center It gets very confusing when you see a lot in bloom they look so much alike we will have to let our noses lead us in the right direction :o))

There's two that's very similar, one is Belgica and the other is Serotina which is slightly more redder, both wonderful scents though...
24 May, 2013
I'll make a note of that one as well Slad and look out for the slightly redder colour , thanks :o)

We were given a cutting by our neighbour, and his is in full flower now and I believe Surrey is correct with the name....

There's nothing nicer than the fragrance of honeysuckle. I'll make a note of Surreylad's suggested names too. When do you take cuttings Amy?
28 May, 2013
Thanks all , I will rename it Beliga ,I take them in the summer Dawn or you can layer stems anytime ...
