HB thanks, Scottish it is fussy, we bought it at the end of the season last year, so it is still rather new, hope it might grow out of its dislikes....
Simbad it may have to go in a pot if it does not do well in the border....bought it for the colour and scent.

Sounds like my Souvenier de Dr Jamain DD. I have mine in a pot in the shade more or less north facing. They certainly smell gorgeous these deep reds and purples. Cardinal de Richelieu is another..if I remember rightly, Andrewr has it in his garden in a shady spot.

it reminds me very much of Tuscany Superb...which was superb for one year here, and after that....awful!

Tet have seen photos of this taken in America and it obviously loves it there!! so pot it might have to be,just hates the UK climate.....
