Heuchera corner at its best for a long time

Heuchera corner at its best for a long time

I've removed some of my heuchs from the borders, as they just weren't happy. They are back in pots now, in the sick bay! Caramel was one that just didn't seem to want to be planted out. Hopefully it will survive.

Looks great Karen, no sign of rust on yours then :o))

Such a range of colours - gorgeous.

There is a bit of rust Annie...need to spray.

Thanks Shirl!

The dry spell seems to have slowed it down here....or the spray is working!

Yes, probably both. It was much worse last year in the wet.

We have had thunder storms here in Gloucestershire and really watered the gardens and filled the water butts. Have you had rain?

Interesting collection and display of heucheras. It is not my favorite plant but it looks lovely displayed like this.

yes Shirl...very heavy rain and thunderstorms. Good point.I'll have water again!

Thank you Klahanie...yes, I know what you mean. They are best in groups I think.

The heucheras are beautiful. I'm interested to hear you say yours were not happy in the borders. I am having the same trouble - I've lost two and now a third is definitely not at all well. I think I'll follow your example and keep them in pots.

Yes, I think my soil is too heavy and wet for them in winter.

A beautiful corner, is this in the shade or sun k?

23 Jul, 2013

But mine is light and dry, Karen. Are they heavy feeders?

They look great together like this, I think ill get mine out the borders next year as they just arent earning there wages lol...

They look really attractive displayed like this and it really doesn't resemble a 'sick-bay' at all!

Right, now, this is full shade for starters. Also, I feed them once a week with to orate in the summer, as I do with all my potted plants. I don't know if they are particularly hungry though. It does look a sick bay from around Feb. until about June...but they do keep looking great well in to the autumn. I have a 'new' idea for growing them, which I am going to be experimenting with....all will be revealed soon!

Thanks for the info, Karen - I think I'm going to have to start from scratch again - I've only got two left :-(

Are you getting rust? Brown spots on the leaves? If so...spray with systhane.....rose clear has it. or it could be vine weevils, but that's more likely if they are in pots. There is a good drench called vine weevil killer, that you dilute and water on to the surface of the pots.

No, they are just wilting, as if short of water (which they are not - nor drowned) I examined the roots of one today and could see no pests. They are just unhappy - pots will probably suit them better.
