Beautifully kept Sheila :-)

Cedar smells so nice too doesn't it?

They are well worth the investment. My Father-in-Law had one - I used to love going there and to have a good sniff! I agree with Wildrose the cedar smells lovely :o)

Nice Sheila and you have it in a light, airy spot, perfect. I adore my greenhouse, as it was my Dad's, purchased in the mid 1950's and still in great condition, I think it's aluminium.

It's lovely. But oh dear - it's so tidy it puts mine to shame! I've told myself it's having a major sort-out when the tomatoes are finished, but I say that every year...

Thank you everyone . . . it's a family joke that the greenhouse is tidier than the house!

Everything is so neat and tidy - very impressive SB!

I like tidy,Sheila..not so bothered about indoors as out..in summer anyway Lol.nice greenhouse too ..:o)

PS meant to say love the pots of grasses too!

28 Sep, 2013

Thanks Bloomer - absolutely :)
Thanks Helenium - the 3 grasses are Hakonechloa macra - one of Tom Stuart Smith's favourites too apparently.

The greenhouse is now in need of a good sweep, as I've been throwing compost around, but I do love being out there, especially when the weather's not brilliant!

I need one this size....mine is too small here to spend time in. It's lovely..it looks so warm, which an aluminium one won't do, even painted green, but I need a larger one and the wood is just too expensive? I can picture it though. I know exactly where I want to put it, but can't make any plans until we get in! Getting a bit frustrated now. Waiting was never my strong point! Everyone keeps reminding me of how quickly it is all going......lol....not quick enough for me! :)) I'm sitting here looking out at the sunshine in what now feels like someone else's garden...sigh. Think I'd be better off getting my boots on and taking the dog to the park. In fact.....I shall take her to the park that's near my new house! and take the camera too....now that's a plan! .....Karen exits quickly towards the stairs.....see you later! :))

When it's something you adore, Karen, the expense is relative. Just compare it to a holiday in St Lucia?! My greenhouse has made me happy for seven years . . . priceless!

Fair point.....and I wouldn't hesitate...but there is another person in this family....and he is...when all's said and done....a Scotsman! A fine Scotsman...but still a Scotsman ;).

29 Sep, 2013

Ah yes, lol Karen - I should have thought of that. I'm sure most Scotsmen are fine in every other way, especially as our putative goddaughter is marrying one next month. Looking forward very much to seeing Inverness / Aboyne etc.!

Oooh! Lovely, Sheila! I hope you all have good weather.

Thanks Susanne! We're very excited as it's years since we've been to a wedding. I've bought a long skirt (dark purplish colour) and would love to find a fake fur bolero - cum shrug - any suggestions very welcome!!

It find John Lewis very useful for outerwear of all kinds! Where are you going Sheila? Is it Aboyne? It's lovely on royal Deeside! especially during the autumn. I'm heading up to Inverness myself this Friday....en route to Rachel in tongue. If you're going to Inverness from Aboyne! you might go over the Cairngorms...be sure to stop at tomintoul and explore 'The whiskey Castle' it's not a castle, it's a shop, but I've never seen so many whiskeys, and the proprietor loves talking about his wares and will give you tastings etc. it's great fun......if you like Whiskey! :))

Wow Karen - sure my OH would love 'the whiskey castle' - thanks! We're flying to Inverness from London Luton, then driving to Aboyne where we'll stay for 3 nights. The wedding 'party' is at the Glen Tanar Estate, Aboyne. Have a lovely time with Rachel in Tongue.

Oh my! That place looks amazing! Have a wonderful time...hope the weather joins in the party! :))

Hope you find what you're looking for, Sheila. Eldest is off to a wedding in the Lochgilphead area next week. I've just been altering his waistcoat - he'll be in full Highland dress. I'm rather envious, actually! Inverness is a really nice little airport, btw. I was there just over 3 weeks ago seeing eldest off down to London after our holiday. (It feels more like 3 months!)

Thanks Karen!
Thanks Susanne . . . well, I've just found something "gorgeous" online, so fingers crossed that it fits! There's something special about Highland dress, isn't there - will your son wear a family tartan? Our bridegroom, in this case, is Anderson, and will be wearing a kilt. The bride's mother, my friend, is making boleros for the four bridesmaids in matching tartan - what a task!

2 Oct, 2013

He will be wearing the tartan associated with my grandfather - the Morrison tartan. He and his brother both have the full rig of their own and find quite a few occasions when they can wear it. My daughter's wedding was a "tartan" affair. She had a corset-style top made up in her husband's tartan (McAllister). Her skirt was blue with a white net over it. It was a stunning outfit. The groom was fully decked with a plaid. Many of the guests were in Highland dress as well. I'm an absolute sucker for it! We finished up with a ceilidh on the Tall Ship in Glasgow harbour. It is one of the days I would happily live through once a year!

Good to hear you've found your outfit. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time.
