You gave me an idea Drc, I have both plants in 2 different places. Mine plants do not look so nice and vibrant . Do you trim your fuchsia ?

Oo La La, I'm loving that Aster, Drc. That fuchsia is stunning, what a size of a plant!

Thanks Suey. I did for the first 3 years Klahanie - I cut it right down after flowering but noticed that the next years flowers were much later, so for the last 2 years I have not cut it back at all and have had earlier and more of a waterfall effect.
Yes it is abour 4ft by 4ft Helenium.

This is definately a marriage made in your garden - loving it. I wish my Fushia and Aster would fuse like yours do.

A bit late I know but I took cuttings last summer of a Fuchsia Magellanica Alba and am traing 2 of them as standards, I know they are half hardy. Is your magnificent specimen growing in a very sheltered spot, and have you ever had any frost damage? I love the combination of the palest pink fuchsia and the aster crown, beautiful together.

Its was growing in the open and had never suffered any frost damage - it got very large and woody each year and this year I removed it. I did take cuttings late last summer and they took very quickly - but dont know yet if they survived the winter out in the open. If not I will replace it with another as for several years they look great until the wood hides the flowers.
