:-) Not quite Scottish, but I have a cockatiel and I usually know what he wants by tone of his "yell".
But I do have him for 17 years now.

I have seen more birds of prey this year than in all my years before. Have seen Hawks, owls and even a bald eagle family. There is a large community of naturalists in our area and they submit reports of sightings in our local/regional newspaper. The count for small songbirds is down apparently. Had a whole flock of Yellow Warblers descend on the apple tree in the latter weeks of August...looked like the tree was strung with yellow lights! found out later that they are the intermediate host of the deer tick...so maybe I'm not so excited to see them after all. sad aye?
Cockatiels are special little guys...had one named Sunny...he had separation anxiety attacks if I left the room! I found him a forever home with a lady who loves him dearly and it appears that he is as attached to her as he was to me. They bonded so fast that I don't think he even looked back when he left me. I'm really glad for him as he was 13 when I had him dropped on me...and before we moved I met the lady's daughter and she said that Sunny is happily ruling the roost five years on!

Our little cockatiel spends his winters in his little retreat with many other birds . We are now in Mexico and he cannot travel with us. He seems to be OK with that arrangement. Glad to hear that your Sunny is in good hands.
