That's right it is Aileen! Thanks very much, it's such an unusual flower, think they call it Japanese lanterns too....:))

Yes it was a surprise Dd, after all year just ticking over then this very odd looking flower!

Thanks Helenium yes you are quite right :o) it will double up another year Janey I started off with one and now have quite a patch of them ! I didn't know it was also called Japanese lanterns , we learn something new every day don't we :o)

What an interesting plant Janey its one I havent seen before, it looks quite spidery too [a good one for Halloween].

Did you know there's a white one Janey? taller than the pink gets to around 2ft here Campanula Takesimana 'Beautiful Trust' here's my picture of it :-)
