Praying Mantis

This guy is with us for few weeks now. It is considered our pet now. It is generally in the same spot. I planted a sunflower seed when we came to Mexico and he considers the plant his home. I greet him "good morning" every day.
The word "Mantis" is the Greek word for "prophet or seer"

I used to have to look after some of these when I worked in a Butterfly Exhibition shop years ago and I can tell you they can give you a sharp bite!!
No wonder the male doesn't stand a chance after mating!!! ;))

I really like Praying Mantis. They're so good for the garden. I get them in my garden, also...although, not as often as the destructive large locust, grasshoppers and leaf-hoppers.
