I used to have to look after some of these when I worked in a Butterfly Exhibition shop years ago and I can tell you they can give you a sharp bite!!
No wonder the male doesn't stand a chance after mating!!! ;))

Is their bite dangerous Shirlwhirl?

Well, no I don't think so K, I didn't suffer any ill effects! It just hurt at the time!!!!

I really like Praying Mantis. They're so good for the garden. I get them in my garden, also...although, not as often as the destructive large locust, grasshoppers and leaf-hoppers.
