Hi Sandra: We are still being hit with storms in rapid succession, each one is worse than the last. No end in sight. I guess I'll have plenty of pretty scenes to photograph!! GOOD TIMES!! :O
5 Feb, 2014
No end in sight here either Paul..Complete devastation in the south of England..never ending rain, railway lines washed away on the coast..so no link to major towns and cities..so many more people told to leave their homes..no electricity for thousands..No one has ever seen anything like this, and even more expected in the next few days...just horrendous..I know heavy snow and ice is bad enough, but at least it's more of a slow thaw..I think most would prefer it, to what they are enduring now..and the looters are out in force, stealing whatever is left of any worth, from abandoned homes....words fail me about these scum of the earth...hang on in there,it can't last forever..

Dreading the snow coming here.:0( great pic Paul.

Thanks Sue, There will be plenty more pics like this coming as we continue to get pounded.
Sandra: Wow, I'm real sorry you have to endure the continuous battering of storms. I was blindsided by this last one. I had no idea it was coming until I was caught in it while driving the expressway. Cars were spinning and crashing all over the place. A truckload of live chickens fell over and we had chickens running all over the expressway in the middle of the storm. Whiteout conditions all the way home. I feel lucky to be alive.
Another storm scheduled to hit on Monday (for me). They say it will be bigger yet. Those looters will get their just deserts. Please be safe everybody, this is serious business!

That was a terrifying experience for you Paul, and glad you managed to get home unscathed..nothing like the force of nature to bring everyone and everything to their knees..
It's one thing we can't fight..and those poor chickens...
You might be better staying home ,if it's going to be so bad again..you get no thanks for being a hero..it's not worth risking llife and limb for..

Thanks Sandra, I agree 100%. That storm just seemed to hit so quickly and with such force. Many were caught off-guard. We were still reeling from the previous storm. Today all is calm, but the temps are well below freezing so this will stay around a while.

We don't get anything like the temperatures you have,Paul,in fact hardy any frost at all this winter..Everything seems to be going haywire here this year..
Still raining down south, and weather warnings in place, for this coming weekend..no chance for the flooded areas to drain away for a long time yet..it has nowhere to go..

Maybe it's time to build an ark?
Cmsue: I think this is excellent subject matter for a painting

I think so,Paul..It was on the news showing a guy in a town on the west coast of Ireland ,swimming down their main street ! He was just making a point, not a call for help..lots of small boats are in use here,
to ferry supplies to those who are stranded,or to move them to a safer place, and it's a nightmare for the Farmers, and all the animals, including domestic pets that can't go out,and it will be the final nail in the coffin, for a lot who were already struggling, within the tourist Industry..very sad...

Wow, Sandra: I had no idea it was that bad. It sounds like a scenario I've seen many times over here as the rivers overflow their banks with the spring thaw coupled with thunderstorms and of course with our hurricanes. It is very sad to see peoples' lives washed away and devastated.

Wow indeed,Paul..and I know how much America has suffered in much the same way,and even worse than this..Another member on here, told me that it has been confirmed as the wettest spell of weather for 248 years..that's going some, isn't it?
8 Feb, 2014
248 years is hard to fathom, but I could think of it this way -we were just a few cotton and tobacco plantations then. I think you are right, something is going on with the weather. This kind of cold is different then is normal for us. The state of California is suffering just the opposite fate as you - severe drought. It's so bad in CA, they can't even feed their cattle, never-mind extinguishing the forest fires. The whole state of CA is in dire circumstances and they need water. We will feel the effects as food prices go sky high.

I keep forgetting America is a relatively new country compared to here,Paul..and it is hard to fathom..just now,we also have gale force winds coupled with the heavy rain,as I look out of the window..if you click on 'Members' at the top left of your news page, you will see what it was like today, off the west coast of Wales, posted by another member called Sandra..spectacular views of the Irish sea,and how she looked today ! :o)
The world is changing,as predicted..scary.!

I think you are right. I remember last year a tornado touched down just a few blocks from my house. They are not known for hitting my area and I've never actually seen one before. What a terror that was.
