Oh lovely - I saw these at a GC today and was almost tempted - settled for six Dianthus instead! I hope you enjoy your gift for many years to come ... :o)

Shirley, I had a very similar experience this week. Saw this and a few other 'Mum' roses, and I'd gone for Dianthus. The Dianthus were very expensive, but I did get three. I can't imagine why Pinks would be so expensive...they are so easy to propagate. It annoys me when they rip you off....£7.99 for a 2lItre pot of cottage garden pinks! I bought smaller ones, but they were £5.99 each. Next time I shall go to one of my smaller nurseries, where you don't get 10% off! but the plants are half the price! Shame it's a ten mile trip both ways, so there's petrol money involved.

Anyway, sorry, ranting again....lovely rose Gralew! I hope it really is strongly perfumed because that will be perfect!

Blimey Karen, those are high prices aren't they? I have mixed success with propagating Pinks ... about 50/50 most years! .....
My Mum's middle name is Doris and one of the pack of six Dianthus is that one ... plus she loves Pinks ... that's Mothering Sunday sorted then!

Thank you Carole....I hope so:-))

Karen... feel free to rant, I think they were expensive too!I have a good rate of success with propagating these and carnations, more than I do with seeds!! I hope its perfume is nice as well(the rose I mean):-)

What a lovely gift Val and will reward you with beautiful flowers for many years to come , I always go to small nurseries the big named ones charge twice as much I like the ones that only sell plants , I take Dianthus cuttings by pulling the ' heals ' off and then dipping them in hormone powder they take quite quickly ...

Yes Amy, thats how I do mine....have no problem doing them this way.Think its Shirley that has problem with the success rate! :-)
