It could very well be, Waddy, I'm a dodo at naming the shurbs at the moment! but it does look as if it's doing well

Mahonia is very tough and spiky. There is a giant one in our garden.

Very giant Fran. Depends on the variety. Ours is quite ancient by now, very floriferous, lovely word, now full of berries which many birds will gleefully feast from when ripe. OH gets very miffed if I dare touch it!!Some Ms are very corporate types, regularly scalped at Tescos by lads with triumphant ease, so they are tough.

I've no idea what variety this one might be, so I'll wait and see what it does. I don't want a Triffid lurking at the bottom of my garden, but a stunted over-pruned midget is no good either. If the birds like it, it gets points from me!
