perfect! not to spoil this , but i'm curious..how's the mosquitos? they're pretty bad in my neck of the woods...i wouldn't be able to sit out there for any length of time..blackflies? do you have them, also? here we daren't go off the beaten path through the "bush" [local name for this type of forest]..be eaten alive.....

Maybe some flies and mosquitos. But very little. Some years we have wasps. We have very dry summers no rain what so ever.. Vancouver is much more wet than Victoria. You must have better conditions for these beasts to breed.

hot, humid, sticky...it rains but doesn't cool off..yep, the bloodthirsty types just love it...about your wasps..we get yellow jackets in early fall, and they have nasty tempers...and very nasty stings...i discovered a neat trick that really works...i filled a small plastic shopping bag with more bags, tied the ends together, threaded string through a couple of holes in the bottom, turned the whole thing upside down, and hung it on my porch...it's shaped like a wasps nest...voila! no flies, mosquitos or wasps...occasionally, one will drift by, see the 'nest' and go away...just thought i'd pass this along...wasps are very territorial, and the 'nest' scares everyone away...:o]]

I noticed that they also sell fake wasp nests.

i tried one of the commercial ones..it didn't last the season...one i made out of a small brown paper lunch bag lasted two seasons...of course, i took it down over winter....the plastic would last longer than paper ..i use grey grocery bags...looks just like the commercial ones.....
