Fran, these will be lovely and loved by the Bees. My RHS book tells me they are Nectaroscodum siculum (Sicilian honey lily) in the Allium genus. Native to France and Italy, a robust perennial with a stem to 1.2m high, umbels of nodding, long-stalked bell-shaped flowers of cream, pink and green shades, then decorative erect seed pods in late Summer. Don't they sound fabulous?

thanks, Shirley! I'll copy and paste that iname n my notes; easier than trying to remember it and type it accurately! and the description sounds gorgoeus - i only have 15-20 bulbs, can't remember pack qunantity, but hopefully they'll do what bulbs do, and then I'll have a small caroet - and maybe some to spare to post out!
I'll check, Amy, thanks
oh, keep an eye on Sainsbury; that's where I got them, around Agust/September. they should have more at the same time htis year.
lol it's now the first pic on the second row! wow, that's a lovely pic. and so many blooms from a single plant?!

They are lovely aren't they Amy?
Fran, you're welcome - look forward to the pic when they are flowering. Very, very windy down here on the South coast today, but at least it's stopped raining. :o)

Yes indeed Fran ... ever tried pegging out the washing on a rotary line as it's spinning round ... lol!

lol, glad i anchored my greenhouse so much, hope it's enough - and a couple of bricks on the flap of hte door should stop it ballooning - it'll make it hard for me to check the plants, though, but sure they'll be ok for a couple of days.

Better safe than sorry!

I think your plants may be like my allium siculum. They have sweet smelling bells that dry off as they turn up and look like Disney Castles. In my allium patch they seed themselves in different places. This year they are extra tall, not as tall as Beth Chatto's though.

thanks Dorjac. These are bulbs, so will probbably spread over time, at least I hope so! The box did say that bees and butterflies are attracted to them, which was another reason to buy them (other than "because they were there"!!)

They're new to me, too, HB I've no idea what they'll be, but apparently the bees love them.
I got them in my "sainbsury splurge" last September, when I bought 20 packs of bulbs - lol you know hiow it is, once you start you have to go thorught he whole stack.
