Rustic Bench 2

Rustic Bench 2

Made by husband to overlook the pond, looks a bit weedy here but the top is a railway sleeper :-)

I love to see long grass - have finally persuaded OH to allow the grass to grow under our fruit trees (so, the top quarter of the garden). He's already worrying about how tricky it will be by the autumn, but I think it's great!

Hi Sheila, I can sympathise, you have to be brave and run with it I think, having let a formally mown area grow its scarey how long the grass can grow. We intend to strim ours down in autumn to let things seed down, rake up and see what happens. We've found having a mown path through it complements the effect. Its suprising what naturally appears. The pond is to the right of this pic, mown path between the pond and the bench :-)

Looks a bit weedy Dawn?? not hubby's lovely bench surely?? Do you mean the wild flowers round it? Well whatever's weedy, I'll have some of it....:))

It looks lovely Dawn very natural, love it :-)
Just made me think of a railway sleeper we've got Rob thought he'd try to make steps on a hill in the wood, thought he could lift this thing on his own well he lifted one end and it slid down the hill, still there lol, he's tried cutting it but his chainsaws not strong enough lol, one day.......

Lol Janey, oh yes weedy everywhere here but I did mean the bench.

Haha Kathy, can just picture Rob's face watching it glide down the hill, lol. Reminds me of that plant of yours that drifted to the depths of your pond, gone forever.

Lovely place to sit...and well done to your husband, love benches like these...

Strimming in the autumn sounds a good idea, Dawn, and we've got a mown path through the grass too - perfect!

That is what I call a proper nature walk and a perfect place to sit quietly watching and listening :o))

I agree with Amy and I might even bring my paint brushes;0)

Thanks Michaella, anything too ornate looks out of place here, we like the natural look too.
Hi Sheila, yes, we'll cut our meadow down in the autumn and rake it up and see what appears on spring.
Hi Amy this bench overlooks the pond so nice. Been listening to the Cuckoo for a few weeks now.
Well Pansy, you would have lots to paint, water lilies are out on the pond now too.

I love a bench near a pond. See the Dragon flies darting about in season.

Lol yep it never did emerge again, the same thing happened with a waterlily thought he'd slide it gently down a plank onto a ledge in the pond wooosh straight to the bottom, that has grown back to the surface though remarkably lol.

That's true Dorjac, love to see the dragon flies, saw a Mayfly the other day when it was sunny. Had Radio 2 on the other day and they said dragonflies only live for 24 hours, what a shame, if that is true of course.

Lol Kathy, that is some remarkable water lily.
