This Is not a French lavender. This is Lavandula augustifolia HIDCOTE.

Not recommended, here it is the only English lavender you can get, lol. And then French one, which is destroyed by our winters.

the French ones didn't like my winter much either, and they wree in a sheltered spot, almost a wind-exclusion zone, no snow, and they still fell over.
I seem to recall Munstead as being a dwarf speices, but I could be wrong about that.
looked for it - RHS was its usual useless self, but Googled it and found a YouTube vid that might be of interest

what kind of lavender is it? I tried French Lavender once, but it didn't take - apparently it's not as hardy as English Lavender. I've been looking at dwarf varieties, but not made up my mind yet
